Citroen ZX project
#1
So seeing as most other french car forums are quite quiet i decided to post this here

Made a purchase just before christmas
[Image: 6fdff2b7c39f4800aaabc113cbde086c.jpg]

A 5 door Citroen ZX with an XUD still tested and only cost 300 euro. I wasnt expecting much for the money but the car seemed fine when i had a look at it. And the seller seemed pretty sure the car was 100%. Had a look. Took it for a spin and decided to buy. Made the 150 mile trip home with no trouble thank god.

Plans for this will be similar to the Sedan. First off are the bumpers. Both cracked on the corners. Front one was from top to bottom and the back was only a few inches of a crack. Took them off and sent away for plastic welding and spraying. Meanwhile i got on with giving the paint a bit of an overhaul. Seemed as though the car hadnt seen much in the way of polish nevermind compounding in the last 20 years so i set to it.

Lo and behold 4 or 5 hours later and it still kinda looks the same

So did a bit of cleaning on the bay this evening. Kinda surprised how clean the engine bay is seeing as it has just shy of 200k miles done

Does need some attention to the surface rust so may get that done when the boot is being sprayed.

All original paint bar the boot which has kind of yellowed but compounding made some difference to it [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Havent had much time lately to do stuff with this but ive come this far.
[Image: 8d0a64e4c8dda097138f59221f510035.jpg][Image: e175dc3ff00c398bb81024596a609c50.jpg][Image: 49e6a65c0733f2baea6b9f63679d7683.jpg] some of the shit that came out of the paintwork using an iron defiler

So bumpers are back on after being welded and sprayed. Fogs refitted. [Image: fb13da807188d372e7fc291c3219ee45.jpg]

Before testing i just cleaned up a few bits and fitted a ball joint. And voila away she flew. [Image: 91cf66cf67f8ee2ff4a03008a661b158.jpg]

Boost gauge mounted also. Kind of wanted something a little more retro and less flashy than ebay gauges
[Image: 94426c1ed02520221a752f4ea2c8f026.jpg]

Also fixed some interior lights as never had lights at heater controls on the sedan either and used to get on my nerves. So some of the dash apart [Image: bff5678ca4506572962840627741279e.jpg]
Replace the bulbs[Image: 7a5898e39befa41e5762c9b4390e9053.jpg]
And now i have heater panel lights [Image: 09af14246648d96cfdca8147e34149d0.jpg]

[Image: 6ecadf03f666938d2fc86b6ce9642941.jpg][Image: 0c093ad3878c1f9f949d4c9bbb34af93.jpg]

Plans when i get back home are

- coilovers
- Straight pipe
- lower refurbished axle

All parts waiting to go in just need time to do it.

Also still looking for a volcane steering wheel if anyone has one.

And what are peoples thoughts on T25 turbos. Have 2 that came off sr20 engines in the workshop that i was thinking of sticking to a spare manifold if its worth it?

This is so nice, just needs to be lower / have bigger wheels.

T25's are 'better' than the factory turbo's, if it's easy then go for it.. But they have so much lag, like 3k+ Until full boost IIRC (been a while since I've had one). Personally I'd get a Bosch pump on there first, more worthwhile.

Soo. Been a while since i last updated this but a fair bit has happened.

After i got the car tested i lowered it with coilovers in front and shortened rear shocks.

Went a bit mad on the back though and it was too low for me so it was raised 20mm.

I then swapped out the blades for volcanes and piped it. Drove it like this for a while

I then sold the sedan which i kind of regret now. The guy who bought it sprayed it white and made a nice job of it

Next up i added red strips to the bumpers like the volcane models come with which i think breaks up the white nicely. I also cur up some hdi 306 skirts to fit and sprayed them white. And gave the car a good detailing as i brought it to a cruise in NI and a show in mondello. Had 2 great weekends and the car performed brilliantly.

And lastly i came across a bargain a few weeks ago of a set of full leather seats and a volcane steering wheel all for 70pounds. Couldnt believe the value and picked them up straight away. A 400mile round trip in the zx and here we are.

I know the car might not be to everyones taste at the height it is but cant explain how much im enjoying driving this at the minute. Bosch and bigger turbo next. Was nice until it became so low that you forget what suspension is for. You've f*cked it up then tbh to conform.
