Hdi Estate. Paid 230 for it needed a heater motor which cost me 40 quid and new handbrake cables which was 20 quid. And a ball joint which was 15 quid. I bought it as my Renault died as an emergency get me to work car till I got something else but it drives so well I've decided to try and keep it a while. It's done 184000 miles so I also bought the gates cambelt and waterpump kit which took me a day to fit and was another 65 quid off eBay. So it's probably cost me around 400 with everything. Just curious as to how long the hdi engines go for. I've never owned a car with as many miles but it doesn't smoke and sounds quiet and the bodywork and underneath is good which is why I did the cambelt. Any other high mileage hdi engines?
First pug. How long do they go for?

These will do mental miles if maintained well, I've seen them on 300k
Welding and fabrication projects undertaken, contact me for more information.

yep as jonny has said well into 300k with proper servicing and being looked after. Get a stage 1 tune for it for £50 and youll have 120hp instead of 90hp and to top that a few more mpg!

We bought my dads old one on 160k and it had done over 280k when we sold it, still going strong albeit the beam was starting to sag.

Sounds good. Where do you get it tuned is it a specialist garage?

Best bet is getting yourself a usb tool like a MPPS, KWP, Galletto etc.. if you already have a laptop or can borrow one then get in touch with one of the tuners on here. Then they send you the file, you flash it and you've got yourself an extra 30+hp/lb/ft

Do you plug it in the ECU? I've done the usual code clearing with my Bluetooth obd and torque but I'm guessing this is a more involved?

Nope, just like with torque you just plug the tool into the diag port in the car, read the original map for safe keeping and then write the new one, job jobbed

I believe so yes. Personally use a KWP2000 myself (from back in the day) but everyone else seems to rate the MPPS
