yeah they were on most 306s as standard afaik, also on most new pugs and citroens aswell. once the balljoint has been out a few times though they get worse for wear and most people never out them back.
On a break from 306oc for personal reasons. If anyone needs or wants me most of you have my number and or facebook messenger
Thanks for the good times guys n gals. I might be back. Who knows.

they are a heat shield to stop the heat from the disc melting the grease in the boot of the ball joint

They should theoretically extend the life of your balljoints significantly, don't know how well they work in rl though. Most cars seem to have similar, so i presume they must work.

You guys must manage to buy dogs where I only buy decent ones... Wink

I've bent so many of them trying to pop lower BJs out with chisels and crowbars over the years lol. Sad I've only ever had one with a squeaky bottom BJ in all these years (that was only 9 years old at the time!) so I'd say they probably do work.

Unless you're getting your discs properly hot, I doubt you'd notice the difference. A lot of manufacturers have holes in the brake shield where the ball joint sits, and it's a lot closer than the 306 ones. If you can be bothered, run them. I really wouldn't get hung up on it though.
Welding and fabrication projects undertaken, contact me for more information.

most get lost/damaged if a BJ/wishbone/hub is replace and as above, most people dont worry about breaking them and leaving the replacement BJ without.

if you've still got them, its either never had its lower arms off or its seen some sympathetic mechanics in its time

some of my AX/saxo/106's have also had them.... though, some have not and ive never noticed a problem from not having them fitting.

Mine's still got the original balljoints/protectors on after 16.5 yrs so they must have some benefit & these are cheaper to buy from the dealers than the one you linked.
