had an update about a faulty laptop & desktop.
Laptop will need rebuild or replacement. Pity, I liked my red Dell a lot.
Desktop will need replacement HDD & O/S.

5 years is a long time for tech tbh...when I bought my laptop I was only expecting 3 years from it!

Buy cheap buy twice
£600 5 year old Sony laptop here still better than most you can buy today, 256Gig SSD upgrade helped a lot!
9 second boot into Win10.
1080P 15.6" screen a beauty to work on.
Blu-Ray upgrade 10 second job if I want it.
Battery is knackered though!
fwiw Dell do make good laptops, just don't get sucked in thinking the cheap ones will last forever, XPS line and above are great machines.

Lol, I bought 'cheap' due to ridiculous offers though... It was a £500 HP machine for £300. I still don't believe it'll last more than 3 years without upgrading parts, that said, we're on 2.5 years now I think about it!
Same with cars though, tech soon becomes outdated. And definitely phones, the tech in them is out of date after like 2 years!

mine was a good spec one, (£500 worth back then).
Intel i5, 500 Hdd, 4g ram, etc
the cheapo one i'm interested in is to install PP2000

Decent tech its not. My old Macbook is still going strong at 8 years old. My old girl uses that daily for stupid use of Facebook.
My business line HP is 9 years old and in all fairness is failing now but tbh the amount of abuse it gets I'm surprised its not dead yet. Always been chucked about, slammed about, coffee spilt on it is a regular occurrence lol
