"Super Budget" Red BMW 325 Coupe "Wall Rider Drift Build"
#1
Saw this puppy on the DriftWorks forum on Friday and somehow managed to beat every other bargain hunting drift kiddy too it!

£300 and £10 fuel later I had this bad boy.

BMW 325 Coupe
Jan MOT.
Part Service History.
3 Previous Owners.
Current Owner since 2008.
189 bhp / 181lb-ft (M50B25TU) single Vanos.
ECU: Bosch 0261 200 413

Absolutely spot on after a clean, tiny bit of rust on corner of drivers side front wing and ABS light on - can hardly complain!

Plans:
- e46 Arms & modified hubs (£200)
- Hydro (£32 new)
- Bucket seat
- De-cat (£40 back when weighed in)

Spec 13/08/15:
- Welded 325i Diff (147k 07/2015) £0
- NGK BKR6EK's Spark plugs (147k 08/2015) £14
- End Tuning 210 bhp chip (147k 08/2015) £60
- Crossland Air Filter (147k 08/2015) £5
- Castrol GTX 10W40 Part Synthetic 6L (147k 08/2015) £19
- Crossland Oil Filter (147k 08/2015) £5
- Boss (147k 08/2015) £15
- Quick Release (147k 08/2015) £20
- Fake OMP Deep Dish Suede Steering Wheel (147k 08/2015) £35
- Coilovers (147k 08/2015) £140
- 5mm Slip On Spacers On Front Wheels (147k 08/2015) £0

Parts Total: £313

Should owe me about £500 in mod's all of which can be sold/transfered/whatever if and when I write it off, even less if I'm patient and buy via auctions and/or second hand.

The other option is to turbo it to 400bhp, the manifold/turbo wouldn't be particularly expensive but the stand alone management and mapping would, so probably best just brushing that under the carpet  and leave the turbo business to the Datsun! After all this is supposed to be cheap and cheerful!

Finally, some pictures after I clay barred, polished, hoovered and cleaned it (WANRING, DON'T GET JELOUS):

They ain't pink, they just 100% natural no filter.

Doesn't do the colour justice, looks mint in person.

If you were to go turbo route with this, I think piggy back over standalone would be the way to go in terms of cost effectiveness.

Looks like quite a bargain though mate

I won't, I can afford too but I have the S14 for fawking about with boost. Even though a 6 pot turbo would be insane.

Ideally I'd like to RB25/1JZ/2JZ the S14 for that reason, 6 cylinder turbo, it's just costly. An RB25 conversion would cost around 2-2.5k and that would be for a stock motor running 280 bhp.

I bet you could turbo the BMW for £1700 and it run better power / be a hell of a lot more unique. The fact the block is iron stands in it's favour and from what I've read 400bhp at the fly isn't particularly unrealistic.

Anyway... No turbo. Blush

Looks very clean and tidy that for £300! Sounds like a bargain ThumbsUp

Almost seems a shame to butcher it to go drifting as per the fate of so many cheap RWD cars these days Sad

I was tempted to just stick it on eBay for £800, take £700 and make a quick easy buck.

But..... At £300 it seems rude not to stick with it.

Dude those M50's can run properly metal power if you de-comp them a bit, like you say much cheaper than whacking an RB in the 200'

Just gunna leave this here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5Q1xMTb5VU

Just bear in mind most kits on eBay are for LHD cars, so you'd probably need a different manifold. It'd be cheaper to just get bits here and there and make your own kit.

I don't know how much the standard ECU can be played with, but there's a fair few tuners about.

You've already got a drifter though, why not just make this a handling/track day toy?

Seems a shame to drift that to be honest, tidy, 2 door, 6-pot, manual. Looking at the price of an E30 with that spec, this could be worth a fair bit in 5 years. Epic bargain though!

I'd just drive it and keep it fairly standard if it was me, maybe some BBS wheels and coilovers. And an M-sport kit. And a nice, throaty exhaust. And a tubular manifold.

Oops....

Have a chip is being ordered / coming to put limiter up to 7,000 (from around 6,000) and should push it to 212 bhp / 262 nm.
