It seems I get the most expensive insurance out of everyone I know even if they have had a license a similar amount of time to me. Must be the car :/ I did a quote on a E30 BMW and it came back at £1400 for my best quote. It's crazy

Have you added a parent as a named driver onto the policy? There's nothing whatsoever illegal about that, and it's almost guaranteed to lower the premium

Added my dad but didn't drop it much haven't really got contact with him anymore unfortunately

Having 2 'older' female named drivers brought it down massively when I was younger although found as you get older it makes no difference

Grandparents? Aunts/uncles? Just try adding family members of all ages as named drivers to quotes, I'd be surprised if you can't find a relative that helps bring the cost down..

shes changed cars to a 1.4 206 after 6 months and had a premium reduction
she can get a further reduction on a 2ltr hdi 306 i really don't understand insurance policy's

Downtown Baghdad probably has slightly cheaper premiums than St Paul's, Bristol.

Have you tried contacting Greenlight Nathan? They are usually excellent with the prices they can get. Got me a deal for under £450 on the Rallye right after making a claim. No one else could.

At your age I think i was paying £900 a month for the GTI6.

Don't they only make you if your 21 and over? I only turned 20 in January 

Most modified insurers are 21 and over unfortunately
We have a club discount with Greenlight so when you turn 21, phone them and get a quote. Speak to Neil and mention the club and you should get a very nice premium. Mine is £500 a year FC which i didnt think was too bad on a highly modified car at 23 in a E rated post code lol

With a friends mam there's always a possibility that you could lend them your car and as a thank you, you might get some kind of MILF type shenanigans out of it?

Just remember Nath if you cancel and move without actually completing a year you won't build any NCB! I'd just hate for you to find something 'slightly' cheaper now and move to start again with NCB. You'll find it'll drop with 1NCB, you'll be older and have held your license longer.

You're downfall currently is the fact you've not been driving long and have 0NCB. It's all well and good Pebbles quoting for you age 20, driving 2 years with 1ncb.... trouble is you're 20, been driving under a year and 0NCB... that's a HUGE difference in insurance terms

So just did a quote with the major mods declared and as honest as I can and its come back with this. Not much cheaper and that's when I've had my licence a year next month. Need to get my NCB which I won't get for ages :/

Looking at that screenshot which doesn't seem to be in this 'quote' reply you are being spanked by £350 for paying by installments.

Now I'm not a typical example at 42 years of age but having had to resit my test. that I passed in October, I am a new driver & I had similar quotes, and also ridiculous ones for my HDi.

The worst was over £6500 fully comp not sure how for a £400 car, the best was £900 fully comp but they wanted a ridiculous amount of interest which would have been a £300 deposit then £350 per month for 9 months.

After doing the comparison sites and finding Churchill to be reasonable, I then went to the Churchill site and got £60 off plus breakdown cover for free. This came in at around your figure of £1700 but without the interest on payments I only have to pay £150 per month after the deposit

My advice would be don't go cheap but maybe think that a policy that costs a bit more may have hidden benefits as I found
