Decided i wanted a nice car for daily running rather than a rattly old peugeot, call me old but meh.
Been looking at various cars for a while and finally decided on a renaultsport megane 175dci having previously had a 225 i knew what to expect.
Went all the way to essex (240miles from mine) to get the exact one i wanted and besides the wheels being 'kerbed' according the dealer and actually being 'trashed' according to me (for which i had a fair whack of money knocked off) it was as described, drives beautifully and most importantly it has 12months warranty.
Please do not think for a moment it is replacing the rallye, thats staying right where it belongs, with me
Anyways piccies:
I know its not to everyones taste but like hell was i buying anything VAG!

No' plate was temporarily cable tied there (plate reads BY51LLY as his names billy) untill he gets the legal pressed ones which can be bent suitably to fit the astra front bumper didnt wanna drive over 500 miles with it in the windscreen lol

The interior mainly. Think they look pretty good from outside but unfortunately you have to sit inside to drive one. As you say it's each to their own though!

I almost bought one of these myself but plumped for the Toyota instead! Wish I hadn't!

Interior just seems functional and user friendly too me, minimal buttons and a far less cluttered steering wheel than vauxhalls and fords.

I really dont understand you at all!? messaged me on facebook asking if i had crashed it and that they dont handle cos your mate had a 1.5 dci yet you want to own one... Also i suggest you look up the renaultsport suspension spec for this with the extra cup chassis which mine has.

The 175's hold alot more value in megane terms, the equivalent petrol 225 (same age / spec) is around £1500 cheaper! can pick up an early 225 for well under 2k now!

More than the rallye, thats the main thing
my daily commute is mostly twisting back & B roads so MPG is comprimised but still seeing an average 46mpg on a daily basis. was hitting over 50mpg on motorway when i picked it up, Bear in mind its a ton & half of car with 18" wheels and 175bhp. I think the MPG is pretty damn good!

Sounds good! IIRC the 225 wasn't particularly rev happy anyway right? So not too much to miss by having a diesel. Nice motor.
