Having just realised the MOT on the car expires a bit sooner than I thought (5 days from now!), I could do with some luck, as I have very few pennies to fix anything that fails when the car goes in for the test tomorrow morning.
I'm convinced it's gonna fail, but by how much.......wanna place a bet?

Haha, I wondered who'd be first to state the (not necessarily so) obvious! I am changing the doors over today, though i still need to get them sprayed, but I'll just have to put up with white doors for the test.

I did think about putting it in the wanted section, but it's actually yet another mot thread with an optimistic title, so I figured the couch was a better option.

Rear arch rusted through due to previous owner never driving it.... Oh and doesn't it have a decat? Fail on that if you don't know the tester lol.
And advisory on the awful ph2 bumper.
If anyones offering miracles though, I'm more than happy to take one off your hands.

Someone up there is clearly listening!
[attachment=21729]
Actually cannot believe that it passed, let alone with just 1 advisory!
Hids weren't a problem, as they give the correct beam pattern, and everything else I was worried about seem to have been fine!
Stunned. That is all.

I would if I knew where it was coming from! Someone (can't remember for sure, may have been gurj) suggested trying the rocker cover gasket, so I'll tackle that some time soon.

Even if they aren't self levelling or have dedicated washers? Apparently that only applies to factory fitted hids, if they're not there, they can't be tested.
But cheers dude, I genuinely can't believe it, but I'm so chuffed it passed!

For MOT yes, as long as they give the correct pattern and assuming they're aligned correctly theres no issue. They're not 'legal' though, so the police could take issue with them...
Personally I hate them retrofitted though.

According to my tester, the police aren't that bothered about them as long as they give the correct beam pattern, and dont blind other drivers, washers or not! It's only poorly fitted hids they'll take offence to apparently.

They're still illegal, whether the police are too lazy to bother with them or not.
But I can see why people fit them, the factory ones on the Focus are awesome lol.

I can't remember what car it is, but there was a year where a car was fitted with HID's from the factory without washers or self levellers.

I'm just quoting the tester, but surely if they're that illegal, they wouldn't be for sale, or be able to pass an mot while fitted?

Being legal and passing MOT are very different things.
You can buy blue sidelight bulbs and headlight tint but it doesn't make them legal... And MOT only says your car is safe enough to be on the public road, not that the car is fully legal.
I suppose if you're puuting degrees of 'legalness' on it, they aren't 'that' illegal though.

Fair point. Well whichever way you look at it, my tester seemed to think I wouldn't have any problem with them as they are correctly fitted and aligned, so I shall carry in regardless until informed otherwise.
Also passed with a decat downpipe in place.

Yeah I know, I was kinda hoping it'd pass the mot, but at some point I want to get a "cat" welded around the straight pipe, so it at least LOOKS like there's a cat in place.
