Country:
what should the standard VE pump be set to, when using a DTI to measure lift, at TDC?
Every bloody source gives a different value, from 0.5mm, all the way up to 1.54mm?? We've set it to 0.8mm, but it would be nice to know the *actual* figure, rather than just guessing...
Anyone know?

In my experience, just time it up by ear on the slots, should be plenty good enough
Only time I went to the trouble of setting it up with a DTI with a book figure (haynes maybe?) it was way out :/

Yeh as said, time it so it sounds lively and you have a small amount of clatter as you rev it stationary. Its better to have too much than not enough, make too much smoke/melt turbos in extreme cases. I used to run my on elongated slots at maximum but I had a load dependant pump with the matal pipe coming out the front bottom centre of the pump.
