Hi guys, I'm wondering if it's worth remapping a 1.8 16v... More importantly can it even be done?
Only ask as I can get chips through work...

Anything can be done, But on a 1.8 it's really not worth it, even on the GTi you get bugger all
Overall Road Going Production Class Winner at BARC Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb 2012, 2013 & 2014 With a class record along the way (For a while), Taking 2nd place will be Ian Redding's 306 GTi
2016 Castle Combe GT championship class winner

Yeh the sagem ECU on a 1.8 isn't remappable in most cases. I run an omex 600 and bodies and got 129hp. Sobthsts a gain of 19hp after 1200 Quid's worth of mods.

My 2 cents are all depends on how much you love your car and engine.
it will cost a lot of moneys to make it more powerful, but the way the engine will run will change for the better dramatically. Add cams and an omex and you will be laughing. Its not all about the top end figures, it's how they are used. remapping is the only way to properly change that. Spends your moneys, make your choices. or maybe just slap a whopping great engine in there...... good luck choosing |
