I know there was a thread a little while ago about this...
But now we have a date and a goal.
Win best club...why, well, I have been part of dozens of forums for different cars/bikes/non automotive...and this is by FAR the best. And thus deserves to win.
So....c'mon, lets get serious, how are we going to do it?
So far:
*more 306oc clothing
*themed cars
*better stand positioning and setup
*grouped cars
*foody offerings - croissants??
*big ass BBQ?
*bigger banner
*306oc flyers
*live and/or static displays
*music/noise!
*balloons
*berets!!
FRENCH THEMED STAND!

How about using the thread we already have on this subject rather than making everyone repeat themselves

Yeah I appreciate that thread you started buddy, hence why I said as much in the first post... but it just didnt seem to have the right direction to it and was a bit messy.
So to simplify things...lets just keep serious suggestions in this thread and I will update the first post with these

Chris I've just re read that thread. Main thing seems to be clothing which i will try and sort out for us before show season but i do really like Poodles ideas. Little displays and groups of cars.
Sooner we can get numbers of confirmed people for the show, i can look at getting us the best stand possible.

Use the banners that were forgotten the last few years. Maybe look at getting some nice flags for the corners of the stand. Clothing sounds like a good idea the more people in club clothes the better it we look when people are passing by.
I like the idea of a different layout, little groups of cars. What sort of displays are we talking about?
Fit models passing out club leaflets lol

Oil drum barbie tops it. If anyone want to make a 306 trailer bbq that would get attention.

(This post was last modified: 26-10-2014, 10:53 AM by Dum-Dum.)
So a few ideas from me.
(13-06-2014, 08:10 PM)Dum-Dum Wrote: I know the club didn't win any awards at FCS this year unlike 2013 and I heard alot of people discussing how we could be the best club at FCS for 2015 so I thought while people remember what e think we could do better we might as well have a discussion about it and share some ideas.
It has to be said that I'm not having a go at the staff team here, I'm one of the few non staff that know how hard it is to get anything done in the staff section and not just cos of the blah of work/personal circumstances but because threads in the staff section can run through pages of discussion and wrangling and voting and still not reaching any actionable conclusion because alot of the staff feel strongly about this club but not all the same.
There are some of us here who aren't staff who are happy to help with stuff and organising stuff to get things done and there is a big group of us that would love to be number 1 club (well probably number 2 behind the DS3UK guys but their stand is a hard act to follow) and show up these spotty 106 wankers and people who don't know shit about cars (ooh RSTuning remap fap fap fap).
Anyway, I ramble too much.
Firstly and this is club stand 101 but remember the f*cking banner! I'm sure I didn't see it all weekend and I'm not blaming the person who forgot it cos I have a stack of OC flyers here that would of been great but haven't been out of my house in over a year because I forget them. I think some sort of reminder system the day before would be good. Maybe post a thread with all the big stuff that needs remembering and everyone who is mates with say the person bring them with the banner text them the day before.
Stand positioning. We have had that crappy little stand years in a row and its not big enough to get a decent layout and space between the cars. In talking to Suzanne from FCS/PFC she said if we want a bigger stand we need to show we have enough cars and then you can pick where you want to go as long as it hasn't been claimed by one of the other clubs so we could maybe either get ourselves in the main showground or get the area opposite/next to our usual stand.
The above would help with a better layout and more cars on the front row. Layout is vital as the DS3UK uys and one or 2 others prove. I think every car on the stand needs placed and it needs to have a bit of a selection to it, no parking all the rallyes next to each other of having 2 SC6s side by side, it looks good when every area has a really good selection of every facet. It also helps with parking and organising.
The stand map from last year with numbered spaces was great especially when it was marked on the ground before hand. On the subject of beforehand can we get one of the locals to go down the week before and look at the stand cos IMO even that muddy puddle let us down and if we'd known/thought a big bag of compost and a roll of turf costs bugger all.
And now for the more wild stuff:
How about a club/stand theme, one or 2 of the other clubs were starting to go that way and I really think with our enthusiasm we could rock that.
French theme. well throw up a few flags and all get stripey jumpers and strings of onions, leave a few empty wine bottles and some baguettes about to complete the look.
Beach theme. Some sand, a few deck chairs and some buckets and spades and we can all wear hawian shirts
Crime scene. I can pinch some police tape and stuff, paint a few body outlines on the floor a little bit of fake blood a few white suits you get the idea
And to a lesser theme, club clothing to have us looking all the same as it looks really good when you see it on other clubs.
Also as i think Hawaiian theme is a winner, a dozen bucket and spade sets is a tenner, 6ft inflatable palm trees are just over a tenner, hawaiian shirts are £5-£10 new

What do you need fake blood for? The french gods always demand blood sacrifices when fixing Peugeots anyway, and someone's bound to be fixing one...

Seriously? Ok, some ideas from me...
(13-06-2014, 10:35 PM)Poodle Wrote: How about a multi-themed stand - different "camps" where all the cars, outfits and behaviour of members match a certain aspect of the club. Was thinking stance crew, derv mafia, track day warriors, budget builders, etc. Go for the stereotypes, maybe even broadcast propaganda at each other. Noise attracts attention and people remember something that makes them laugh, do both and we should be most of the way there.
Did think of a few random ideas for it: Static displays in the centre of each camp with a few bits of random keepsakes for each member/car and photos. Eg I have the numberplates for most of the cars i've scrapped, I imagine most of the derv mafia have chunks of block, bent rods or melted precups hanging about, and i'd be surprised if we can't find/make a chronically over-worked tyre. Could do live displays - tuning a mech pump, fitting coilovers, or possibly a headgasket for the derv mafia. Get the stance crew on camping chairs with cut down legs and extra-wide arms stapled on; track day warriors wearing helmets, flocked everything lol; derv mafia covered in soot, rags and bits of pump hanging out of pockets; stance crew looking ridiculously "scene", bright colours, stupid sunglasses etc.
Edit: My missus seconds the cookies with 306oc on them.

You made a point by starting a different thread, I'm making the point that my views haven't changed.
I really do think priority number one is sorting a larger stand area and preferably one in the main show ground. Its impossible to do anything with the stand and fancy layouts if you barely have enough space to get all the clubs cars on the stand.

It was just a bit of a mess and a bit silly the last one inc stabs at staff and previous failures.
Thought it best to have a cleaner more serious thread!
As said, I did ask first!
And I want their ideas...but a great long blurb isnt serious ideas, its just messy blurb.

And this became a stabbing piggy thread so you gained nothing over the original thread that already has all the ideas that have been posted in this one and more besides.
The reason behind actually writing more than a few words is to explain an idea so that people can see the reasoning and aims behind them.
You can ask about posting a thread all you like the answer is always going to be yes unless your asking "can I post a kiddie porn thread?" or "can i post a thread slating the staff?". You cannot expect Niall or any other staff for that matter to remember every thread ever posted here.
Now stop duplicating stuff just to get your post count up.

Clothing is a must and something pretty much everyone has agreed on and staff have said they will be sorting before next season, so that one is dealt with, wait for staff to sort it out over winter.
Food is easy to offer out, maybe back a charity for extra incentive, school bake sale kind of style.
If we want a theme then if piggy can compile a list of all the ideas from this thread and the last into a bullet point list in the first post that will clean it up.

Clothing!
Live displays arent worth it. How many people actually go to the proper FCS live displays? Not many and its frankly quite dull.
The hawian theme has been done, My thoughts would be to go proper french stereotype and have members in classic french gear.

I kinda agree with Sam tbh.
The beach has been done so many times. And doesnt really scream Peugeot or French.
If it was decided to do so, i would back it 100% but i think full on french would be better.
French flags, stickers, dress up, french flag balloons and cars full of french stuff!!
We could also perhaps have some old record player blasting old skool french music?
How tough would be it to setup a couple old 306 seats, tv and ps3/xbox with driving game?
And what about a tv with a video loop of previous 306oc meets/shows?

I really do like the french theme and yeah beach has been slightly over done but the DS3 guys had quite a french theme last year when they won it so I'm not sure its appropriate to copy it.
How about a very british tea party theme (as most of our cars were built in the UK anyway), loads of union jack flags, and clothing, red, white and blue balloons, lots of biscuits and scones etc and we'll find some way of making a tea urn work outdoors.
How does that sound?
Possibly even go as far as making it a mad hatters tea party and get gurj a rabbit onsie?
