Cheers, this is my second Evo, had a 6 a little while ago, along with M2 turbo, two ST205 Celica GT4's and a version 5 Impreza WRX STI Type RA. As you can see I only do Jap stuff so a 306 is very different to me!

All of the above was already done when I got the car, works out an awful lot cheaper.
Iv done a few things since but all the pics are on the laptop so il have to wait till later to continue.

Power on 2bar boost is 396bhp with 390lbft, she goes pretty well lol!

Very nice. Nicely balanced figures.

I was all jap before the 306. Early Colt GTis and mivec FTOs. But insurance was just so much! And I got married!!

Evo8 is my mission. But i have a soft spot for the 4 and 5!

Defo cheaper to buy it like that...theres 15-20k there of work!

Iv taken it round Blyton Park about 3 weeks after I got it.
Went very well but the Parada spec 2's were useless in the wet but when it dried out they were fantastic. I did manage to warp the front discs though!

The newer ones are more refined than the earlier cars, I just prefer the 4-6 looks wise.
The Evo 6 I had was virtually standard and was quite comfortable as well as doing 25mpg if you didn't boot it.
This one is harsh, clutch is heavy and struggles to do 18mpg if you don't touch the accelerator lol but its worth it every time you drive it!

I decided to go with Godspeed grooved discs and kevlar pads allround when I replaced the brakes

I also managed to pick up a cheap set of 5 Evo 5 stock wheels for track use so il be refurbishing these at some point

I just don't see the attraction of Jap stuff myself. Yeah I'm sure it's fast, and probably sounds good...but does nothing for me! Confused

My neighbour had an Evo8 for a while...he now drives a Focus. Tongue (Ok so it's an RS, not a 1.6 diesel haha)

Nope never had a drive, but couldn't keep up with my neighbours even in a stage 1 HDi...yes even through the twisties. lol

What is it about them that you prefer over any other car, if you can pinpoint it?

That's what track insurance is for! Wink

Its the closest thing to a full race go kart thats road legal.

The finger tip input and response on the wheel, the amazing throttle response, the way it feels so well built and that you just know you have a car which even driven by a spanner like me, is pretty much quicker than anything else out there. Even a 306! Plus you can be just as fast in the snow!!! Hahahahaha

A race go-kart sounds horrible! lol

I'd still prefer a hot hatch over something like an evo or impreza myself, but each to their own of course!

Snow speeding does sound tempting though. Wink

If you've never driven an Evo before then put it on your list, theres not much on the road that can keep up with these things in the real world.
The car isn't for sale mate, you'd have to prise the keys from my cold, dead hands to get this lol!

Aha i have always been an impreza man myself but can appreciate this Smile

Only evo i have had a go in is an evo9 FQ400 and it was fast dont get me wrong but it felt a little too delicate for welsh B road hoonage (my doorstep!) lol

Getting out of the FQ400 and into my Tubby2k scoob on full V6 STi running gear (proven 336ponies) the impreza just felt so much more planted around the lanes, i can imagine on the track the evo would have the upper hand but on the lanes the scoob would just edge it Smile

Lovely looking car though! any further plans with it?

Always preferred the Evo over the Scooby, just don't like them (probably doesn't help it was my ex-wife's "dream car"...) but have a soft spot for the old Escort Cosworth. A mate from uni got one putting out over 400bhp...phenomenal car. When I won tonight's lottery...

Don't go saying that there are faster cars than a modded HDi on here...you'll be lynched! lmao

Love the Evo. Big Grin

Ok fair point. Let me rephrase:

Its the closest thing to a full race go kart thats road legal, keeps you warm, dry, safe, with a stereo system, space for the kids and the months shopping!
