Doesn't matter whether they would or wouldn't, that's massively illegal. As said, just get an XUD with a Bosch pump if you want to run on veg oil.

Yeah I know it is, it was just there's an old hdi and I was going to use it to run back and forth to road as it's all private gravel tracks!

I may get corrected on this but i'm pretty sure heating oil is a higher viscosity than diesel so it would probably wreck a HDi much the same as veg oil would.

For anyone who hasn't got the idea yet: anything other than normal diesel tends to wreck hdi fuel systems.

Heating oil is nasty stuff - it'll kill the pump with lack of lubrication. Gravel tracks, of course

Honestly there are gravel tracks from my front door all the way to work! They are good fun when the estate manager is away and the handbrake comes out to play! The head gardener has a mark 2 escort rally car which sometimes gets a run along them too!

I have a xud in my 205 but it has the lucas pump runs very lumpy on veg As for the bio it all depends whos made it and how good it is that can be very bad for wrecking motors
The heating oil or kerosene is a strange one taking out the legal bits and bobs and just looking on the oil as a fuel or not ive heard it has no lubrication so it ruins bearings ect in the pump also it has no cleaning agent so it will soon sooty up the injectors also because the way it is stored in tanks outside has a high water content because of condensation but in america they run there wagons on it and put a additive into the mix
but now the legal boring bit dont run on it in the uk its illegal no matter what you add to it

There's 2 issues on not running diesel and running veg or other fuels. Lubrication and viscosity. Adding additives will probably start seeing nowhere near enough of a saving to make it worth the time. I'd just use red if it's staying off road or bite the bullet and use white diesel. All in all hdi engines are picky b***ards and running anything but will be nothing but trouble. Even running cheap nasty morrisons diesel (think it's partly bio and shit additives) causes trouble. I don't see an alternative mate common rail/high pressure diesels are designed to run at parameters of standard diesel and weren't made with any kind of leeway. I've even heard someone say they had trouble using red in an hdi I don't see why that would happen but in the end they rely on the user/driver to input the expected fuel to run. Anything else it's just plain not designed for. Pickup some mot failure xud if you want to run on veg off-road is the best solution or use diesel on the hdi.
