Breaking: 1999 Ph3 Diablo 5dr HDi Meridian
#1
Going to be breaking and scrapping my 1999/V Ph3 306 HDi this weekend if there's anyone after anything?

It's a 5dr hatch Meridian in Diablo red.

Mechanically and electrically everything works that I'm aware of other than the usual dead aircon. Engine runs well, averaging 50+mpg and doesn't use any oil/coolant, but the injectors are getting tired and would benefit from replacement (I have a set from a 307 I can include). Bodywork is reasonable but has a few marks in places along with a few patches of the usual Diablo lacquer peel. Interior is pretty tidy, just some slight wear/discolouration to the drivers outer bolster as usual - no rips/tears though.

Let me know what parts you need, but a quick list of some of the bigger bits:
  • Engine complete with turbo, HP pump etc (can be heard running) - £60
  • Stage 1+ mapped "162" (single plug) ECU, BSI and keyfob - £100
  • In tank LP fuel pump (new ~3 years back) - £30
  • Fuel pump relay (new ~3 years back) - £10
  • Half leather front and rear seats - £50/set
  • Front 18m hubs complete inc ABS sensors - £40/pair
  • Driveshafts - £20/pair
  • Ph3 "crystal" headlights - £20/pair
The following parts are either not available or sold / provisionally sold:
  • Rear beam
  • Front struts/dampers
  • Wishbones
  • Wheels
  • Front GTi-6 brakes
  • Steering wheel
  • Bonnet and drivers side wing (provisionally sold to Alan_M)
  • Gearbox (provisionally sold to Paul_13)
  • Rear bumper (provisionally sold to SRowell)
  • Starter motor (provisionally sold to Niall)
  • Side repeaters and interior light (provisionally sold to Nathan1305)
Can post/courier the smaller items but big/heavy items (e.g. engine and interior) are collection only or I can possibly meet you part way for the cost of fuel.

Located in Swindon, Wiltshire (10 minutes from M4 J15/16)

I'll get you some pictures when it stops raining Sam, but from memory the rear one is pretty good and certainly more than presentable, the front probably not much better than yours as it too is suffering lacquer peel and has the usual plastic tabs on the underside snapped.

Pictures as promised - apologies for the distinctly unwashed state it's in!

Firstly, the seats and interior (the dash is complete, just bits aren't currently fitted from where I removed the audio at the weekend)

Secondly, the front bumper and a close up of the worst of the lacquer peel:

Thirdly, the rear bumper, with the worst scratch on the bumper highlighted:

And lastly, a couple of the sides of the car:

Again, apologies that it's so filthy but hopefully you get the idea - any more pictures or details needed let me know Smile

Okay buddy. Obviously that front bumper isnt great but I'll take the rear one! How much are you looking for it? The fog light protectors are interesting too! How much do you want for those?

Oh and can you do the driver side wing fairly cheap?

£30 sound reasonable for the rear bumper?

It's got a complete set of headlight and foglight protectors on it that I'm umm'ing and ahh'ing about fitting to the estate - I'll have a think and make a decision Smile

You've been beaten to it unfortunately. It's pretty much mint too, just to annoy you!

The passenger side is available still.

I'll double check them in the morning, but I replaced some earlier this year so at least some are good with no lacquer peel or broken clips.

Alternator is fine, charging at 14.4v last time I checked it - again, I'll double check it tomorrow and get back to you Smile

Just to confirm that all the strips are free of lacquer peel and the alternator is good (~14.9v with no electrical load, ~14.2v with full load of lights, blowers, heated screen etc). I'll PM you now Smile

The shell and some of the running gear has done a cool quarter million, other parts less.

Isn't it somewhat academic though, when surely you buy parts on condition rather than mileage?

Also, that leather 4 spoke wheel still looks mint!? If so, let C2K know, I know he was after one. Smile

Because, despite the unwashed appearance in the pictures, it's been well cared for throughout its life to the point that nobody who's seen or driven it can believe the mileage.

Other than a few spots on the roof, the worst of the lacquer peel is on the bumper and grill thanks to stone chips from all the motorway miles. Bonnet had suffered on the leading edge for the same reason, but I replaced that last year.

Is it mint, that's why unfortunately for C2K I'm keeping it and fitting it to the estate (which has pitted as usual)

I had a diablo covered in lacquer peel at just 9 years old/65k miles lol, I don't see how that could be avoided even with a regular wash but you are right, I'd never have guessed the mileage either!

The front bonnet edges on these do seem to attract chips, and once that happens the water gets in and lifts the rest of the lacquer! Confused

It's an early Ph3 Meridian so it only has seat belt pre-tensioners and not the side airbags I'm afraid.

That said, if you want them and are collecting, you're welcome to remove the airbag ECU and loom for free to be able to run them.

Yeah I can remove the fuel pressure regulator for you and post it - not sure of the going rate for them, so does £20 including postage sound about right?

Works fine as far as I'm aware - certainly engine runs well and copes just fine with the Stage 1+ remap, has never cut out under load etc.

That fine - I'll remove it for you when I get back from work today. Unlikely to get it off and boxed in time for today's post, but I can post it tomorrow for you if that's OK?

(29-08-2014, 07:29 AM)td_dan Wrote: What exhaust system does it have?

Standard system - OE CAT, standard centre section, and a non-sport spec (ie no chrome trim) backbox. The later obviously isn't original as Meridian's should have the sport spec backbox with the chrome trim, but it would be easy enough to swap the tip over if you've access to a welder.

Probably not of much interest, but the centre section might be useful for someone to chop up to make a straight-through backbox as per the guide on here.

Can I also have the gearknob and steering wheel?

If you ever take the doorcards off, I could also do with the membrane for the just the front speakers too. Might have the bump strips too if they don't go with the other chap^.
