Wanted: MAP Sensor (gti6)
#1
Hello,

I seem to have occasional hunting issues when car is started (usually when warm) which will cause the car to idle/hunt at 2 or 3krpm.

I believe it may be caused by MAP sensor so would like a known working unit for as cheap as possible please people.

I have a phase 3 car, but engine is phase 2 ( I know some sensors are different between phases)

Cheers,
Chris

right then guys, the ones I have been offered so far are the wrong type.

If anyone has a working one of these, let me know how much you want Smile

Failing that, can anyone identify the part number so I can order a new one?

The fitting on that one is as used on older GTi-6's upto around 1998 - later cars used the newer type fitting as above.

However, the part number is wrong and should be 0 261 230 012 for the older type sensor AFAIK. Does that sensor get swapped on the SC conversions (to one that can read positive boost pressure) or is it simply the wrong sensor fitted to your car?

I've got a handful of spare early GTi-6 MAP sensors here as it's the same that I'm using on my 205 GTi-6 - they worked fine when they were last tested, but I'm happy to pop one on my car to check that it works OK before sending.

£15 delivered sound fair?

For the record, I have a phase 3 car but suffered engine failure before I bought it. It had a good phase 2 unit put in.

This can always be a bit of a pain with things like this, as cant just call up, provide my reg and get the part, as will be the wrong one.

Will be the same as standard, as far as I am aware they dont change the type due to SC conversion, just down to the fact I have an older engine/loom.

Are either of you going Pugfest? I am happy to collect from there to save you the hassle of posting, and save me a few pennies Smile
