GTi's aren't that bad on insurance, mine was marginally more than a HDi to insure

Tbh I'd have thought it wouldn't be too much worse on fuel than the 1.4, because you use less throttle getting around due to the higher torque/capacity etc..
I averaged about 25-30mpg driving one daily, but on the motorway they aren't bad on fuel, some see 40+mpg.. really depends on your driving style and whether it's largely town based etc..

I'd recommend a HDI, reasonable power with good economy.. you'll love it compared to your 1.4 I can assure you! Couldn't you technically fly from Brizzle to Stansted? Tom might even pick you up from there...

A HDI is only £240 which is only £20 more than what I'm paying now!

There's your answer! Toms is an ideal example for you IMO as it's had anything it needs done to it thats past usual DIY

if you think a 1360 306 uses a lot of fuel, you're in for a while world of pain when you buy a gti6

I love the way welsh pug just assumes you have debts!! LOL
But anyway HOW MUCH???? £220 a month for a 1.4 what does it cost you a year??? That is a fecking ra*e. I suppose its the joys of getting old you dont realise how much younger people a beimg taken for a ride. If it makes you feel any better i insure a gti6 upto 260bhp for £40 a month Go hdi mate well worth for an extra £20
