(Warning VAG Content) Seat Ibiza FR
#1
Hello to you all, first of all as the title states this thread does contain VAG content! you have been warned!! Haha and as my internet is temperamental at the best of times i will be doin this in stages instead of 1 huge update as have nearly owned the car for a year now!! Haha.

So onto the car, shes a 2006 Seat Ibiza FR 1.8 20vt that Forge had the chance to use as a development car for the intake side of the engine but il get onto that in a bit.

Couple of photos of her before i bought her,

And just a couple more from when i got her home,

These are a real performance bargain IMO, no idea what they handle like though. Even the PD130 diesels represent pretty amazing value for money.

Looks aren't my cuppa though, they are really feminine IMO. Aren't they based on the Polo? Somehow the Polo manages to look much more masculine!
Disclaimer: The above is not to be taken to heart and is probably a joke, grow up you big girl.

So a little bit about the car, 1 owner from new with 81000 miles on the clock, nice big service book with every service done on time by either a specialist or dealer, body work was basically mint apart from the odd age releted dent/stonechip.
Now i bought this from a local dealer (stupid idea!! Haha) but wanted the car so tried to look past that, anyway managed to get a nice discount and a years warrenty with the car so was really pleased.
Then i decided to try and track down the original owner as it was obvious that someone had been playing with her (Giggidy) and the dealer hadn't a clue what was modified, i pointed out to them that the intercooler was not standard!! Haha.
Luckily there was a club sticker on the rear 1/4 windows so popped a newbie thread up askin if anyone knew the previous owner, within a couple of hours i had found the guy!! Couldn't believe i found him that quickly!!! but then found out he was 1 of the main people on the forum and after chatting to him and reading through his project thread i was hugly happy with the car, the guy had really looked after her and modified her sensibly.
So onto the mods, I may as well start with the huge intercooler!! Haha this intercooler was actually developed on this car by Forge including all the pipework, cold and hot side,
little link to the intercooler on Forge's website, can see its my car in some of the photos.
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content...=FMINSSIBP
hope that works!! Haha
Then after this P-Torque did a nice stage 1 high torque map for the car, the previous owner said she was making around 220bhp and 300lbft at the wheels when he had her dynod Big Grin Haha after adding a lot more power to her the brakes were now a lil inadequate!! Haha so a set of Audi TT front brakes were added along with a Whiteline Racing Antiroll Bar.
This is when the previous owner needed 4 doors and more space so he traded her in for a Seat Leon Cupra.
Annoyingly before I had the chance to start adding my lil bits to her the front top mounts went and then shortly after the steering rack went!!!! Wasn't happy but thank f*ck i got the warrenty!! Haha Although after the garage fitted the rack i noticed it wasn't fitted correctly so onto a sligtly more trustworthy garage!! Haha got him to sort the rack out and check over the rest of the car, thankfully she came back with nothing wrong with her Big Grin Haha so onto some parts.
First off this is my first petrol turbo so had to get her making so turbo related noises!! Haha did some forum work and decided on a Forge FMDV008 as normal atmospheric valves trow up warning codes and just sound gash on theses engines haha and to help the sound escape a nice big Jetex open filter, rated to 311bhp, a lil bit over kill but it was recommended by a couple of people so went with it.

Couple of photos

[attachment=15389]

[attachment=15390]

Got them fitted and swiftly made my mpg drop by 10 miles!! just could not help myself!! Haha

Next i had to sort the wheels out, never had curbed wheels before and they were doin my head in!! Haha didn't want to the same colour so had a flick through the colour cards at work and found what i believe to be the same colour as the grille.

Couple of photos

[attachment=15391]

[attachment=15392]

[attachment=15393]

The grilles are actually sprayed with a matt lacquer but i was happy with the colour, lil annoying i can't pick up the metal flake in the photos as there is a lot of purple init.
So onto refurbing the wheels, couple of photos.... again

While doin the wheels i tried to get hold of some new centre cap when which i found out how rare the wheels are, they were only on the Ibiza FR for a couple of years and it was virtually impossible for me to get hold of them so masked up the bolt covers on the original ones and sprayed the centres the same colour as the wheels.

Photo before the centres were done,

[attachment=15399]

And a couple after,

[attachment=15401]

[attachment=15403]

[attachment=15404]

Really happy with how they came out and the purple really pops in the sunlight, gave her a good wax with the stuff i have at work and then a nice layer of ArmorAll Shield all over.

Quick photo of her wet (Giggidy)

[attachment=15405]

Next up was gettin the wheels to look right in the arch so onto eBay and got myself some 20mm hubcentric spacers, got 2 to begin with as wasn't sure if to go bigger on the rear also got her a set of Team Heko wind deflectors as was gettin really annoyed with gettin wet, these have a really poorly designed pillars, water just rains in if the window is only slightly open and i smoke so no comments about "just close them when its raining" Haha

Couple of photos test fitting,

[attachment=15406]

[attachment=15407]

[attachment=15408]

[attachment=15409]

And a cheeky photo of her outside my work next to a mini we just repainted,

Was happy with how she sat on the spacers so ordered another 2 and stuck um on. Was sooo much happier with how she looked with all 4 on and the best of it she drove really well, felt a lot more planted.

This is how she stands today,

Future plans are to get her poverty spec strips colour coded and then onto some sort of bodykit, not goin full on max power style as love the shape of the car to begin with but just want to make her a lil different to the standard car and then possibly somthing with the suspension, want to go stupid low but with the poor quality of the roads in my area i cant really do that....... soooo possibly airbags........ but we will see haha

Thanx for staying with me till now and hope this wasn't to boring!! Haha

yeah thats part of why i bought her, not alot of cars for that sort of money with those sort of power figures.

i wasn't a massive fan of them before i got one but after a couple of weeks owning her see really grew on me, hoping some well chosen skirts and splitters will manly it up a bit haha

yeah believe its basiclly a polo underneath but with the engine out of a golf

Yeah I was lookin at the vrs as well but both the vrs n pd130 were out of my price range, I do love the roar of a petrol and I drive really short distances and find diesels don't like that sort of driving and to be fair I can afford a petrol at the min so may as well take advantage of it lol

Yeah wasn't my first choice either, wanted the deep grey but this one was for sale at the right time and only couple of miles down the road from me so grabbed it before it sold!! Haha

Shame.. My "gutting" process is going well, in two minds whether to gut the toilet room out..

It's quite nice for the ladies to use with a plastic bag rather then squating in a bush..

Was defiantly a shame mate, had changed all the kitchen and the storage, integrated a "entertainment" area, rewired everything including LEDs along the footwells and made a hatch to get our kayaks in when on the move but was trying to get all the rot out and as said it was well past sorting, striped everything out so can put into another one when he gets the funds.
We had also looked into the bog, didn't have one from standard, just a tiny wash room and the whole way through we debated whether to sack it off but never decided on what to do, we had a huge awning, bigger than the van!! Haha so was debating on a standalone wash/toilet room but then you gota think about someone dropping one in the morning with just a sheet of canvas between you and the outside world!! Haha

I used to work for seat and realy enjoyed driving these older gen ibiza, like driving a go kart Smile I'd still have the new leon though all day long they handle like a dream and the cupra is rapid, to top it off though is the fr 180 they pull like a train all the way through the rev range.

You think the 180 are quick!? You wana come out in this!! The power delivery is pretty awesome Tongue haha but yeah defiantly would love a new seat, really love the ibiza bocanegra!!

Haha, I get discount through work & it's quicker to there than get stuck in Gaywood rush hour traffic to get to lynnsport lol.

Fair play, its a nice car as it is, doesn't need anything doing to it lol!

The 14 is looking drift sluttish as ever lol, love it! God knows how Sam gets round the speed bumps outside there though, I have to go one wheel over the middle to stop my exhaust scraping!

Oh god, That things gettin worse by the day!! But like you say, she's a drift slag!! Haha ahh the speed bumps...... Many a time has he got himself stick on them!! He tends 2 go up the path or just drive down the middle of the road, it's more the entrance to the gym now, he has had to raise it just so he can park in his own car park!!
