Nice car mate ive owned 2 190e's a manual 2.0 and a 2.3 auto, id still own one now if it wasnt for the running costs and the misses hating them lol. Check the front springs and bottom ball joints as they are known to go in a dangerous way and both are a pta to change. Had a spring explode when the car was parked overnight, found a piece of spring up the street hate to think what would happen if i was on the motorway.

Don't tempt me! I'm actually liking driving a petrol again, I wanted a 2.6 but this was in such good condition I couldn't say no.

As much as i love petrols, those OM606's when properly tuned rev like a petrol, just with better economy and a bit more of an agricultural sound track lol.. and they appear to be pretty bomb proof!
Cough... om606.. 700hp & 1250nm

Their a right bastard to get a turbo diesel engine in a uk merc 190 as the steering box is in the way of the turbo, thats why the never put a turbo on all of the uk diesels only left hand drive ones. There was a diy turbo kit in the 80s made by mosselman that you could fit to any 1.8/2.0/2.3 petrol 190's but i imagine its big bucks even if you could find one.

I imagine the stock turbo location is a bottom mount turbo on LHD spec TD cars, if it was going to be custom, then you could make it a top mount turbo and 'adjust' the area around it to suit a big blower. Similar to what people do on RHD turbo beemers as there's no space for a bottom mount turbo due to the steering union.

If you leave me a full tank of fuel in the car and some decent tyres on for when it's done I'm game

Saw a lovely diesel one of these yesterday, diesel, FMIC'd, nice alloys, lowered in Weston-Super-Mare.
1) 2) They're growing on me, pain in the arse for parts though?

Not really, Mercedes still make everything but it can be expensive. Most stuff is made by 3rd parties as well which keeps parts prices down. Just got a set of plug leads from ECP for £23 for example.

I'd rather you just say if you know. Some of us have to work Saturdays!

I know mate, where do you think I am? I'm saying have a look on eBay because I've seen the ads but don't remember the prices.
