Because they aren't German is why. Jaguar did make some shitty cars. Take the XJS for example, they rot to pieces and your lucky to buy one now days that you don't have to collect in a bag but realistically, they are much better than most of the german executive market. Prices aren't that expensive if you go to the right places but go to a main dealers and you will feel it (They used to charge £110 a hour labour at the dealers my old man used to work at and that was back in 2003!)

I will have to give you a tour of mine!

The only bits in a bag is the interior lol

Also, consider this. It's a 1977 car and it comes with an LSD standard! drifty drifty Tongue

Be glad that XJR isn't a V8, the 90's ones have nikasil liners, which means any fuel other than premium eats the engine entirely. And you can't rebore it!
That 4.0 'charge is the same engine as the Aston DB7.
A moments silence please, for our brothers in the NAD-zone.

Most were replaced though when the make up of petrol changed so much due to the fact they were failing so early on.

They only replaced engines that were affected. Basically, the high suphur content in cheap shit fuel wore them down. Most Jaguar owners (from new) fill up premium fuel which is full of additives and generally less sulphur content, so the problem is still very much out there if you're buying one second hand Smile

Been there, done that lol also got the Jaguar Enthusiasts Club magazines with it Tongue

Correct but it was actually a huge amount of them that were replaced but as you say, it can be over come by using low sulphur fuel if you do pick up one with an original engine.

I did my research before I bought it, and came to the conclusion (because of the above, and a few other things) the v8 was a no go.

Supercharged inline 6 all day Smile

Sixes are much smoother and quieter, to me V8's are for sports or muscle cars, straight sixes are for luxury cars, V8 doesn't suit a Jaaaaaaag...

Yeah. It's a proper "lad" car if you know what I mean, like a Jaaaaag man shaves with a straight razor, knows survival skills, drinks scotch and can fix stuff, whereas a BMW man wears shades indoors, a Mercedes man talks about how much he earns and an Audi man uses hair/skin products.

Ok, productive weekend so far.

New exhaust manifolds, new downpipes, supercharger rebuilt, new belts and now running like a dream!

Errrm... so I loved the car so much I decided to sell it, make some profit, dig deep and scrape the barrel and buy a newer, nicer, v8 supercharged model.

So, picked this up the other day. Sorted the exhaust and intake out for some more ponies and gave it a full detail.
