Leak off pipes if check first could be any seal on the pump

find where the wet areas are; follow it around, find the source first. It's difficult as it could literally be anything from the pump, to the lines, to injectors and so on..

Hi guys sorry to sound dismissive of your suggestions but iv spent 4 hours today checking where the leak is coming from and it is coming from the bottom of the fuel pump near the back of it roughly in the middle

What I really need to know is how to stop it

Sorry If I sound a bit funny

either get another pump or re-seal the one you have.

Best to rebuild it all/ re-seal it all in one go no point replacing the 1 seal as most probably leak from another seal few days after changeing the one it's leaking from lol

Alright iv had a look again and it seems like the point where the ally part of the pump meets the cast iron or steel part of the pump is leaking

Should I try tightening the bolts that hold the two together ?

I'll give it a go because there's about .25 mm gap with fuel coming out

Also there are two bolts missing that hold the plate on these don't hold the halves of the pump together do they ?

Iv tightened the bolts as much as I dare and its still leaking is there a guide to change the seals ? And where do buy some from ? Autofactors ? And how long would it take ?

Failing that does anyone have a pump they would like to sell me ?

You wanna buy a seal kit. Get a picture of where its leaking from a someone can give you some advice. If its where i think it is you could just whip the plate off and replace the seal then put it back.

I dont know who piggy is lol iv just joined

If I could take it off even just to see it would be preferable or is there likely to be a load of springs and little bits that will come flying out never to be found again?
yeah been running veg over the last couple of weeks - do you think its related ?

Theres 2 little springs that are a pain in the ass, they wont fly out just a pain to put back in the right place. People do say veg causes seals to go.

Well yeah you have to hold it at angle when you build it back up to keep everything in place. But piggy claims to have done one god knows how.

That guide is right though. I dont see how it can be done on the car. That seal kit should be fine, i paid a bit extra for a proper Bosch one, that one might be one though.

Basically same as headgasket, but you take the pump off instead of the head. So not really the same at all. Wink

So almost definately need to take it off the car , unless this mysterious piggy can come along and tell us the secret of how to do it one the car lol ?

Iv ordered the kit so will have a go next weekend

ha ha lol i mean difficulty wise , ill probably just do that seal tbh as it doesnt seem to be leaking anywhere else and im a bit scared of taking it apart too much and not getting it back together right as i know foook all about how it works lol

Is it possible to take the pump off with the Pump bracket (for want of better word) still attached so i can avoid removing the pulley ?

If you dont know what i mean by pump bracket im on about the one that hold the pump to the engine.. ie. the one you would unbolt the pump from. But instead just remove the whole lot

Infact might be easier to explain with a photo Idea

So i mean leave this attached to the pump when i remove it ?!?
