SO earthed the Headunit directly to the chassis right underneath it (its sitting in lower console not in main dash) and also earthed the RCA audio cables to the body of the headunit...with a inline 3amp fuse.
This has cured the alternator whine, low rumbling and high pitched hiss.
It has NEARLY cured the heavy tick/pops and whines which copy any accesories I use...like indicators/wipers/fan/lights etc
BUT NOT QUITE>
still a little pop when something turns on then off, like an indicator or lights.
ANY IDEAS????? Im close to hammer through the windscreen stage
Did you try moving the RCA + the other wire, cant remembre the name, not the power one though.. lol.
But yeah move them to the other side of the car away from the power wire?

i'd get/borrow another head unit to try apart from two you have then you know for sure if head units knackered tbh seems like your going through alot of trouble when it sounds like its stereo's phono plugs are shot

Are you sure the stereo is as new and not fecked around with, it does sound dodgy for a new pioneer to feck up

theres a onbaord fuse on the phono earth side...but I cant get to it, its part of the circuit board, apparantly if 12v is sent wrong way, tripped somehow down wrong phono wire that little fuse blows. Seems to exhibit those symptoms.
New HU seems fiine, still the TINYIEST hint of a "pip" when something electrical is turned on/off with vol on 0 and you listen really close. But I can live with that

anyone know how to test a alternator suppressor??
I wonder...my voltage had rissen to around 15.2vs generally...but in tandem with the buzzing coming back, the voltage has dropped back down to 14/14.2vs and Im thinking maybe the suppressor has blown?!

Can the suppressor you bought handle 15amps or can you find one?
