Can anyone advise as to why the immobiliser cuts in after stopping, i.e after refuelling or parking. It is intermittent and annoying, i have to reset to start again. Car is hdi2.0 2001 model.Nospeak

Correct me if I'm being stupid but isn't that how an immobiliser is supposed to work?

What do mean resetting it? Is it standard or aftermarket?

It`s a standard pug I/boliser. Can you explain why it refuses to start after stopping for a short while, now becoming a constant thing. I have to lock and unlock the c/locking for it to start again. Help is urgently required.

Take the steering wheel shroud off and make sure the pick up ring is seated where it should be. If its only just in range of the chip and sometimes it doesn't pick it up, it will refuse to start until the BSI has gone to sleep (car locked for a while) and woken up (ignition switched on) regardless of if the chip in the key is now in range.
