Suspect brake servo

Currently in the process of getting a Hdi on the road again, but i have suspicions it might need a servo as the pedal is hissing, but not hissing when pressed, the brakes are really bad and some brake fluid has been leaking. Ive been told the engine needs to come out the replace the servo, anyone shine any light on this? Ta
