Turbo loss of power

Hi all basically was driving home last night (standard xud)

put my foot down in second and it was pulling then it felt like there was nothing so i turned the music down and could hear the turbo alot louder than usual without much boost all (i dont have a gauge but it certainly feels like a nad almost)

so went home had a little look around everything seemed normal and not leaking (changed the d seal a few weeks ago)

spoke to phil (4way) on facebook and he said to try to wiggle the boost pipe from the ic to see if it popped off the turbo end etc and was having a little trouble as im a noob so he offered to come down and take a look

upon his arrival he realised my intake wasnt actually connected to the turbo it was just hanging so its been de'filtered (not intentionally)

after 5-10 mins or so phil couldnt find anything out of the ordinary took him up the road in it etc and just left it at that...

took a look underneath today to see if anything was caught in the intake etc all seems normal (well to me anyway) so not sure what could be the problem

car still drives fine just sounds horrid on boost well the boost thats left..

That sounds like it's pretty f*cked

If there is no play and it's been de filtered chances are you have sucked something up and bent some fins

is the boost compensator pipe broken/split?

that can whistle like hell and drops the boost terribly

not that im aware of man all seems tight and snug piping wise seems to be no black smoke or anything atall though if thats any help

Check for shaft play, but im with Danny and guessing the turbo eaten something naughty.

Defo worth checking piggys suggestion, for the sake of a £2 hose and an hour playing contortionist lol.

This sounds like my turbo does above 10 psi. It is due to excessive boost, it started making the noise after a months of doing pulls at 26 psi so I am guessing that is the problem-o. It sounds cool but actually means it's worn out and skimming the sides of the compressor housing.

Standard boost puggy. Even ha warranty on pump etc. will try piggys suggestion but ill look out for a new turbo in the meantime I guess lol thanks guys!

just listened to the video...does sound a bit buggered. worth double checking all the pipes though.

whats odd is that my k14 made that noise for months at 24psi, it was broken...but it maintained boost

It sounds exactly like you pipe from the turbo to intercooler has came off, sure its still on?

yeah im 100% sure it's still on weather its got a split or something that i cannot see is a different story

compensator pipe seems all nice and snug too

need to fit a boost gauge really

pisses me off though sounds like an electric car

Sounds just like the Golf did with no exhaust.... Yours isn't leaking at the top end anywhere?
