Nah I used a few fiber washers wither side
I feel i should point out he doesn't actually know this, what with never having kept a car long enough to have to MOT it...

Gonna try this one in the near future, when my mid-section is going to get replaced.

I've just done this conversion earlier today.
I used an old exhaust clamp and put the threaded bar through it, with nuts and washers, like so... I also decided to stick a shiny exhaust tip on it.

Iv welded in a centre box from a yaris. Shaped like a cherry bomb silencer, looks to have great flow inside and has quietened it down low down the revs like i wanted. Wasnt to sure were to fit it though so i welded it where my back box should be. Anyone know if the positioning of silencers makes any differance? I should imagine you would need it furthest away from turbo right?

So my mid-back box mk4 on my estate.
Cut the hangary bit off the original back box and used that and a massive jubilee clip to secure the mid box to the car then clamped on the original down pointing tail pipe.
