Hmm, I've always wondered what the point of the XSi is though? If you want fuel economy and lower insurance, buy a 1.8. If you want speed and noise buy a '6. Why would anyone buy an XSi new?

didn't the 16v xsi come out before the 16v 1.8? . . . . anyroad it was a bit faster i suppose . .Smile

The 1.8s are basically a blank canvas with regards to porting, you can tune them to how ever you feel, then adding throttle bodies with a race manifold make for a nice engine. As well as the xu7 engine been alloy vs the iron gti6 lump, so saves a few kg.

There is no noticeable fuel economy difference between the two.

The biggest difference is the limiter sounds a gazillion times better on the 1.8 than it does the xsi. Much slower cut to it. Win.

My Bosch works fine and the front of my car is all intact now! Just in different colours...
