but i want to replace it once i strip it out not just to get the number and go get it

surprised you dont have a spare. Most 306 owners have at least 1 replacement for every part on the car

may lay up the 6 as the tax is due then do a big list
shaft bearing shaft gearbox seals sump gasket mains cap rubber seals may even put a set of new crank big end shells

These never did have a sump gasket. Was RTV out of the factory.
Good luck dropping the sump though. Ive never done it on a 6 but im pretty sure 2 of the bolts are behind the bell housing.
