overheating!
#1
i am having overheating issues when im giving it some beans.

iv removed the thermostat to rule that out, opens fine though when i tested it.

normal running temp with no thermostat is 75degrees, runs perfectly fine.

problem is, as soon as i hit 100mph 5th gear 3.5-4k my engine temp flys from 80 straight upto 100degree's and beyond in a matter of seconds, and i mean litteraly seconds, it seriously overheats, heaters go scorching.

when i let off the throttle and drop my speed it cools back to 80degrees quite quickly.

could my fueling or wastegate adjustments be causing this??? or is it somthing more serious.

thanks for any help

oh forgot say that my fuel is turned up 1 1/4 turns and my wastegate arm is all the way across at its shortest (dont know if it should be that far lol)

also theres a small arm on the back of my fuel pump, used to have a blue peice of plastic covering it, what does this arm do? i lenghned it a few turns but carnt say i noticed any differance.

(We dont mean to assume of course but we do assume you're doing this on a track or private road??)

fyi...know your pump and what to adjust before just trying something...like lengthening an arm

i think iv cracked it, i had my wastewgate arm all the way across so where was no thread left, iv unscrewed it about halfway and theres much more power asnd it dosnt overheat. must have been runing super lean?

You can't run a diesel lean Wink

Heat in a diesel engine is from running excessively rich (billowing smoke)
