Remember to find a gun that draws less CFM than the compressor puts out. If it's just a small hobby compressor...like 50L or so, good luck finding a gun that's man enough to do a whole car. My compressor is 50l and a fairly high CFM output for that size and ive only found a handful of guns that will just work with it. You will still need loads of breaks as you will be flogging the tits off the compressor and you normally find that they have a cycle break time which ypu should try and stick to otherwise it will pack up eventually.

Can you link me to any guns you know of that will work? I think the compressor I'm borrowing is 50L.
My mate is using it to respray his van, he says it works ok!
And what about paint? No idea what and where to buy?
And what section should this be in?

50l will work but it will run flat out all the time, also gun wise you don't need a expensive one, but you will need 2 different nozzle sizes, 1.3-1.4mm for base coat and lacquer , and 2mm for 2 pack primer, just make sure all panels are flat, and rub down using wet and dry, if you keep the lacquer wet but not runny wet, you won't have much rubbing down to do to get it flat and shinny, but painting is alot Easier said then done,

Moved to the correct section
If its a 50l compressor, you are probably looking at somewhere between 3.5-5 CFM. Mines 4.7 so fairly high for the size but cheapy no name ones that are 3.5 max are not suitable for spraying. The motor cant directly pump the pressure at the pressure the gun is taking so eventually it will run out of puff and you will get spatters in the paint. Not what you need. If your going to do it, id suggest trying your local hire shop and see what compressors they rent out.
As for paint, i cant help you. Its something im reading up on my self at the moment though so may be able to help soon.
You can get small guns intended for touch ups and detail work that will easily work on 3.5-4.5cfm but it would be stupidly impractical to do an entire car with one and you will probably end up with a really uneven finish.
