can someone check a switch please
#1
can someone check something for me please?
airbag on off switch
does this open and close a
circuit or just change resistance?

I believe my airbag on and off switch is faulty
even tho I bought one from eBay it still gives the same error codes
can I ask your views please
if I run test through the switches with my multi check the light illuminates whether the switches are on or off
do you know if the switch should not give the same result if in the off position?

my fault codes read today were
p1862
of the passengers airbag deactivation not defined
and
p106f
passenger airbag deactivation undefined

peugeot wiring drawing shows it as a change of resistance
BUT
Autodata shows it as an open close resistance switch

with the switch in the off position it will light a picture lamp on the dash showing pas airbag disables

many thanks for your help buddy
yes that is exactly what I have on the dash
airbag light
this is the only thing I tampered with when I changed a steering wheel
I did move the squib slightly but I have no faults for that
I got another switch off eBay and both switches
make no difference in the on position
we are unable to clear those codes using a snap on solus code reader and remover
very possible both switches are not functioning correctly
any ideas? on the above fault codes buddy

I believe it should be open or closed personally

you dont need to clear the codes!
once you fix the faults the ecu clears itself unless its been activated "Boom"

no idea on the fault codes PP2000 is the best to read the airbag ECU Wink

P1862 Transmission transfer case contact plate power circuit failure
P106f ??? could convert too P1111 P1111 Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor circuit Intermittent high voltage

thank you
I still believe I need a new switch as a starter
as it's all I can remember touching
ill get a price for one Monday and keep you guys posted
as it must be one of those faults that lots of
people get over time :-(

most of the time the faults on the airbag system is related to the plugs under the seats

this had made me realise that my airbag light may be on because ive turned the passenger one off when changing steering wheel and never turned it off.... does it constantly illuminate the normal icon? or is there another icon?

SRowell
that is exactly what I did
turned the passenger bag of whilst changing the steering wheel
just to be safe
ever since air bag light is constantly illuminated
I have tried everything
ugs under the seats are fine
I even soldered the earth plugs
I believe the airbag pass switches are faulty

what are your thoughts?

I am pretty close
to dropping it off at peugeot Sad

it is now an mot failure from this week
onwards buddy
mot testers will be wanting to see airbag lights light up and go out after a few seconds or once the engine has started
so there will be an influx of cheap cars available soon with airbag faults :-(
I just wish mine was straight forward

ok I have spoken to three independent mechanics today
and I know what is wrong
I will post up once fixed and when I am totally sure
but from how they have explained things then it all
makes sense :-)

once ecu has logged a live feed giving a solid light
the airbag ecu has to be wiped
or swapped but if buying second hand you need to match serial
numbers up
then it's fixed Smile
getting rid of a solid light by taking the battery off
is unheard of and if this does work it must have been
a very minor fault

i dont understand what you have just tryed to explain!

i can force a solid light on my airbag system buy unplugging a bag!
once i reconnect, the system self checks and resets to OK state

Well that made no sense, those mechanics dont seem to understand the system atall :/
Doesnt even own a 306.

well I have been told because I switched the ignition on without reconnecting the steering wheel airbag it has logged that fault which is specific to me and probably different to other people's experiences
I am waiting on the ecu to arrive and will post up more
I can only go on advice I have been given
I am also hearing the same resolve from other mechanics
we have checked everything available and unable to find
another fault to fix
hence why I said I would post up once tried and tested
but was asked to explain beforehand

I looked behind the stereo just now
I can remember fixing a pulled wire so have just taken
a pic
it's an orange wire than plugs into the USO black connector block
on the rear if the radio
anyone know what that wire would be for ?
just thinking prior to me having this car someone
could have linked this one up and caused a problem?
just clutching at straws before its booked in at peugeot ;-(

is there any numbers on the wire? look for printed numbers between stars on the wire itself
orange wire is posably the illumination wire for lights on on the stereo

I may have stumbled on something

it has no connector to it?
I can't see anything loose but anyone know
what this one maybe for please peeps
many thanks for your help

believe me I removed the whole centre fascia
switches radio etc
had my hands all around looking and feeling about
could not feel or see anything

when I got out of the car the beeper sounded as the lights were on
part of the rev counter section started flashing
like there was a bad connection on the back of the dash cluster
would be good to try my cluster in another car
my cluster may be faulty or the plug damaged etc
if I hit the dash with the lights on then there is a small section
from say 1000rpm to 3000rpm that flashes so Definately a bad connection
causing that
considering my seatbelt warning light and side airbag either
I wonder if I may have found a problem :-(

I guess I need to trace the wires from the passenger airbag through to the airbag bypass switch
I am sure this is the problem :-(
