Hdi gear box advice

Hdi gear box advice

Just looking into this really wat difference would a Hdi gear box on and xud do as someone told me its a big difference to the speed any advise welcome as need a new clutch anyway so if any gd will change box at same time thanks

Lower RPM in 5th at 70 than an XUD box so better economy when cruising from what I've read.
Current Car: Lexus CT200h 1.8 138, 2013, 19,500 miles
Previous Car: VW Passat 2.0 TDi 140, 2005, 136,000 miles
Previous Car: Peugeot 306 XLdt (stock!), 150,000 miles (I miss this car Sad)

the search button must be broken...fix it mods!

it changes each gear ratio due to a different final drive.

so each gear is about 500rpm lower than the xud box at same speed

Id recommend one - had one in my last DT. Changing gear too much with the DT box; ratios are silly short imo, the HDi box isnt much better, but the DT box will feel more involving when driving spiritedly.

In short - Go for the HDi box

If your in the minority and own a XUD purely for economy then the HDi box is a must, it'll pay for itself over time with the saving in fuel.

If your in the majority and own a XUD with the intentions of modifying then a XUD box is shorter which should give you better acceleration in theory.

and to add if you do alot of town driveing can drive at 30 in 5th carnt do that with the hdi box but hdi box is good for motorway driveing.

But you strugle to do 30mph on a hdi box in 5th will have to be in 4th at more revs useing more fuel or am I wrong?

Doubt on 30 roads your going to be going at 30 for long enough to see that benefit. Any sort of hill in 5th at 30 and your dropping it into 4th surely. Will be way off boost too

everyone assumes the higher the gear and lower the speed the better the MPG...this simply isnt true!

Actually, it's partly true but it depends in what situations you do it. If you're cruising on a flat road at 30 in 5th then great, but if you're trying to speed up or going up a hill it's a waste and you will use more fuel. Only go into the highest gear you can for the type of driving you're doing for the road you're on and the speed.

I know this to be true because my current car has a MPG display which is spot on (calculated manually many times) and it shows this to be true.

and because its very rare to 'cruise' at 30mph on a flat, you end up changing gear frequently, which makes the 5th gear 30mph idea pointless. it also means you cant get outa trouble quick!

So it's XUD engine, XUD clutch and flywheel, Hdi box and XUD clutch fork, is there a fork pivot that needs to be swapped also?

XUD clutch cable as well?
