You dont want anything bigger than it needs or else your alternator will be working overtime to try and keep up charging it. You want around 600CCA for an XUD

Ive a brand new 65ah battery here is that good enough?

It's the CCA you want to be looking out for really, that's it's peak output for starting..
Mine's a 540cca and it's a bit small really, if you can get a 600+ to fit in the battery box, bonus!

I got an EXIDE Premium 075 battery, iirc it's 60Ah and 600CCA. More than adequate.
Before that I had a poxy 480CCA thing I had in the GTI, would rarely start without a lot of labouring!

The alternator won't have an issue with bigger batteries, as it should be staying near full all the time. Only time this should be an issue is if you drain it completely which could make it overheat.
Also remember the CCA's is for the first 2 seconds of cranking at most, then it drops quite a lot, so the higher the better especially for cold starting. My 306 had a 62Ah 600CCA IIRC.

I think mine is about 900cca and 110Ah. Could probably just crank mine in gear to get it a-b! Beastly battery

Good place for batteries is Costco. Think my Bosch S5 was only about £60 and Halfords wanted £140 for the same one.
