As for the slight grind. New gearbox oil works wonders for the feel of it and noises

the hearers will be the resistor pack, its in the intake above the motor

Going to pick this car up later, want to get the speedo sorted asap. Anyone link me to the sensor i need to buy? Its a 98 phase 2, or is there a chance i wont need one just a loose conection? Thanks

Probably best to go straight to a PUG specialist garage to buy a sensor / sender.
IIRC, To get to the sensor / sender you have to take out the driver side driveshaft anyway, I wouldn't go through that just to check it. Id buy one and if you don't need on then send it back.
