Lower engine mount
#1
Well i'm ashamed to say when I fitted my engine and came to fitting the lower engine mount bolt, I couldn't be bothered to get the torque wrench out, and just did it up tight, like really tight. NOW the car vibrates like a bugger on idle, what's the torque setting for the mount and could having it done up too tight be causing the roughness on idle?

Many thanks Smile

Shouldnt do because there is a steel pin through the middle of the rubber anyway which the fork bolts around so you could do that up as tight as you like and it would still be damped by the rubber.

Hmm, need to find this vibration, the old engine didn't do it, and i'm 99% certain the exhaust isn't touching the car anywhere.

It's because it a new mount, sounds like your old one must have been buggered.

It should settle down! Have you made sure the down pipe isn't catching the subframe, when mine was it was a horrendous vibration through the car

It's the mount from my old engine, so nothing new.

I really need to do an in depth check on the exhaust, needs to be removed and re sealed anyway.

I will be getting a powerflex or similar soon, but that's not really the solution, it's the same mount as before and as they can't be overtightened there must be something else.

Plus I really don't want to fit a new mount in this weather! Will have to swim to the car soon :/
