Knock rattle and squeak :p drive shaft?

Got a quick for you lot, recently done the clutch on smokey (although my mate had started before i got there and the drive shafts were already out) anyway about a week ago iv had an intermittent noise from the front end like a knock and rattle with the occaisional squeak :p it does it in a straight line can hear it more so up to 30mph but not when on full lock soo im ruling out outer cv's i can sit there and rev it without the noise so im ruling out engine/belt, bumps/uneven road doesn't seem to affect it so im rulling out suspension as such, but have jacked it up and have span the drivers side wheel and the seems to be a click from the inner cv, before i go and order a drive shaft anyone have any other suggestions? (or any of my reasons for me ruling things out a load of crap?)

Second opinions never hurt and at the moment id rather not go spend £40 on a driveshaft it it isnt the problem and i haven't got a spare to try

Could be mounts mate.

dont jack car up...get your arm under there and try and twist the shaft.

if theres play...get a torch and watch which end the play is in

It has had a lower mount i replaced that a few weeks ago for peice of mind will get the bar on the top mount, gearbox mount was ok, slowly losing patience with this car, firelighters? :p

I got a bad clicking noise while driving and it seemed to be coming from the inner bearing of the driveshaft that goes onto the mount. Turned out to be the wheel bearing falling apart as when I undid the nut to change the driveshaft all the balls fell out...

O dear, its had new bearings iv jacked it up and checked the wheel bearings and couldnt feel any play, that was one of the first things i checked
