If your needing full static advance to make decent power from any turbo that makes its power before 6k, then your dynamic timing isnt working / not making full travel...have you changed the head / plunger in your pump? If so have you ran the pump up to pressure at full throttle and looked to see if its making any timing?

The biggest problem with opening up VE's, is pretty much anything you do to make more fuel, will make less timing, due to increased pressure required to overcome the injection rotation pressure...therefore you need to bump that up as well to overcome it....

Sorry for my ignorance Darren, im still learingin about these pumps, if ive just increased the fuellingby LDA pin and max fuel screw would my timing need adjusting to get better results?

Like I said, anything more than like 10% extra fuel, will start to tail off the timing A - earlier than stock, and if you go far enough, will prevent it from ever reaching top timing...

Thats with 9-10-11mm heads, obviously the bigger the head, the worse the problem gets....

sorry to be a pain so i need to advance my dynamic timing then is this easy myself or am i best going to a diesel spesh, im still trying to get my head around these pumps but slowly tbh as havent had much time to research recently

i think im being stupid here tbh Darren, does turning the pump on the bracket change the dynamic advance? i no it advances something but unsure wether its static advance or dynamic

Turning it on the bracket is just statically changing the injection timing, then the pump itself can add more degrees of advance as the internal pressure rises with rpm / load....

Right i get you, its not that advanced on the bracket id say, coul possibly get a tad more out of this, think a trip to the specialist up the road is in order to try and get the best out of this 9mm ive just been doing some reading tonight, and from what i can see to increase the dynaic advance other than this way mentioned on the bracket would be to modify the piston to allow extra movement, i think i need to get this spare pump open and have a good look how the thing works as had a realy good read but think the hands on approach will help me put this research into practise

Its not so much getting MORE advance by grinding the piston that your after, not unless your really pusing with BIG turbos...its more just allowing the stock advance system to continue working as it did OEM, if not a bit MORE agressively if anything...

Ahhh i see, i suppose im running a 'biggish' turbo (dont hate me) TD04L-15g i know this isnt a big turbo in your eyes but its a starting point for me and seems to run well but does feel as if it could do with some more advance as the fuelling has been increased a fair bit and taking in to account what you said about increases over 10% extra fuelling, i think i could benefit from this. Il just have to work out how to allow the stock avance system to continue to work as OEM or as you say more aggresivly.
