I thought the first bit was crap and boring....they're supposed to be thinking about the future, not the past, all the foreighners will think English people are all dirty farmers with top hats lol.

The music bit towards the middle wasn't too bad tbh. And then they had the guy that invented the web (where would be without that!)

Then the countries (half of them made up I think!) Was also boring, even the queen looked bored lol...... Few fireworks were slightly interesting......but overall it was as I expected it to be, a massive, pointless waste of money.

But anyway its only on for 2 weeks isn't it? Hopefully there'll be something good on Tele after its over then!

These are all things that make us British though...

I think 99% of the foreign people who were there or who were watching would have had no idea what the hell anything meant with the commentary on the TV. As impressive as that was to coordinate the whole thing, i can't help thinking it was such a waste of money consider the crisis our country is in. They says the Olympics will generic billions for our economy....but they seem to forget that they've already spent billions just making everything ready....all a big waste of money if you ask me

That's fair enough, I do understand the idea, but imo it just makes England look Aw though its stuck in the past. There's clearly nothing in the present good enough to put into a show.

I thought it was amazing, when it was at the very start I was worried it was going to be a huge disappointment but how everything was put together and explained our history etc etc I was very impressed!

Very well coordinated but I totally understand the argument for the money spent in times of financial meltdown. The Great Ormand (spelling) Street Hospital bit was brill with the NHS workers taking part.
The house party bit was also really good but maybe a little hard to follow.

I have to say I enjoyed it overall. The start was lackluster but the vision and the way it was all put together was amazing!

They incorporated some big things that 'make' England

- Our acting history- we've got some great Stage schools and brilliant actors
- Industrial revolution- it changed the world
- Music- DUH

As a country, we're not easily identifiable unless you take the Royal Family and Landmarks into account. There's not really any cultural aspects that you can look at and straight away go ' That's England'. China for example does, and they portrayed this clearly in the Beijing opening ceremony. I actually think we did very well!

Obviously the team introductions and speeches were pants, but that's a part they can't get rid of and it's hard to change it up!

The lighting of the cauldron though was absolutely amazing, I did not expect that to play out as it did!!

Yeah but Mr Bean was a stroke of genius - that tv show has been sold to nearly every country in the world so I think other nations watching have some idea about British eccentricity. Also I would think many countries would know the industrial revolution started in this country and many of them understand that if it wasn't for this great country of ours many of them would still be riding donkeys and living in mud huts.
We are pioneers in medicine, free healthcare, engineering, communications and technology and gave the world a glimpse of what we have achieved and the British spirit. Made me proud even though I felt there were many points in history that were missed like the invention of the steam engine for one and there were no national costumes. People keep referencing how it represented English country life - I thought it was about Great Britain.
British and proud - Rule Britannia!!

The genius of Mr. Bean - it requires no knowledge of the English... It's universally funny...

i thought it was very odd at the beginning and how IKB walked around with a giant cigar for half of it. The NHS and charity thing was a bit odd and as was the party scene where the girl left her phone... the guy found it and then called her and she picked up... on another phone? very confused! But overall it was pretty good and i think it came across well after the china games. At least we didnt superimpose fireworks!

By far the worst bit for me wzs our miserable queen, bond should have pushed her out of the helicopter then run her over with his aston martin!
