Meh wouldnt take anymore than 0.5 off a stock motor if you still want to be able to drive it day to day and start it in the winter...

Tbh as ive said before, if I was doing it again, id leave the compression totally stock, I dont wreckon my old 213hp hdi rodded engine would have let go if i didnt bend a rod from hydro'ing it....

And the 213 was running standard compression? other thing is what do piston rings and rebuild kits cost and where do you get your head gaskets from?

Nah it was running a .5 decomp, but personally I think it would have held in there without it,and been much easier to drive etc.

Just out of curiosity Darren what thickness gasket where you running with this .5 decomp Smile i was thinking of this but derv shop near me just said to leave as you have recommended
