Look on real-oem (equivalent of service box for bimmers) and get the part number for a genuine thermostat, then search online (GSF supposedly sell genuine BMW bits in unbranded packaging)

Sorry to hijack but are injectors tapping a common issue with these?
Potentially been offered on cheapist but injector sounds like its tapping its tits off. What they cost? £80 a set second hand? All interchangable or got codes on?

Can't say I've heard of many tbh, maybe worth a post on the fb pages as they seem to have a lot of info on

Right update time,
New MAF sensor is in and has taken away a slight hesitation but it's still very down on power. Got round to fitting my boost gauge today and found out just how little boost its making - it's making about 4psi up to around 4k where it's built up to about 8/9psi which frankly is shit lol Have got a slight turbo whistle but not sure where to start looking for boost leaks if there are any that would give that much pressure loss surely they'd be making a lot of noise? May just crack on with the plan for the bigger turbo sooner rather than later tbh we will see what comes Going to give her a service soon and do the thermostat at the same time then hopefully more money can go towards mods Also have a target power in mind which will be interesting

Gave her a service today so gradually starting to tick things off the to do list
Found this down the side of the engine Extendable mirror from when I last worked on the car  Need to get myself a 36mm socket before next time lol

Got persuaded today that rather than replacing a tyre on my current wheels i should buy a new set of alloys from a mate

Haven't got around to fitting them yet but here's a pic

they do look nice.
Just my 2p, but it's always best to get the engine to its healthy state and original power before upgrading. You may end up masking an issue Wishes for more power...

Have you managed to get this plugged into INPA yet to see if that sheds any light to the low power issues?
21-05-2015, 05:00 PM
I haven't managed to get it plugged in yet, should be getting INPA soon though and then will have a look.
Piggy I considered getting it back but I'm only getting 4-8 psi out of the turbo and can't find a boost leak anywhere, figured it's likely to be the turbo and may as well upgrade while I'm there They're 19' CSL reps Danny and they are bloody nice will hopefully get them bolted on soon, know if they'd need spacers on a standard 46?

Checked the intercooler?
I'm sure on these they are prone to leaks on the edges where the plastic housing is. Its very odd for a turbo to drop psi without other symptoms. IE my GT2056s was still boosting 28psi despite having massive shaft play and leaking oil. Wishes for more power...

Feel free to pop up if you want some time mate, we can have a good look in INPA/in general. Nice man, those were what I was going to get but I thought 19's might be a bit too big/£££ for tyres so stuck with 18's. It depends on the offset really, you may possibly need 5mm spacers but I think you'll be alright if it's standard height.

Well they're on.... Kind of.
Love the wheels but have only got 3 on because one is leaking air around the rim, and when I took one of the rears off found that I have a leaking shock so it's slightly lower and sits on the tyre when I'm in it. Thanks for the offer Danny sounds like the making of a good day, may not be for a while though as I'm skint atm Piggy I hadn't checked the intercooler that thoroughly, I didn't realise they were a common problem. Welcome to any suggestions though

Picked up a set of msport shocks and springs today and got them fitted this afternoon hopefully will make a nice improvement on the handling
Should also help with the wheel fitment lol

Silver wheels were too big, bought black ones instead

Will be cleaning up and spraying the rear arches and a couple of other places where I've got rust coming
