As its already been said its very important that its had the oil changed on time and with the correct pd oil these engines are great if looked after my brother has one in his golf estate a 130 pd and has 288000 miles on it never been apart and still runs great and even now returns 50+ mpg as for the 2.5 v6 I had one of these a few years ago and never did like it ok on fuel on a run up the motorway but crap using day to day never did much better than about 25-30 mpg but i do have a heavy foot just make sure the gearbox is ok and changes gear as it should i have seen a few of these with gearbox issues It depends on the price as to what deal you can get I must say i think the interior
