VTR is 8v, VTS/GTI is 16v.

The 1.6 8v has mounts to fit a 306 available since essentially the same engine came from the factory in the 306 anyway.

The 16v does not, it never went in a 306, so you'll need to modify the mounts to fit the 16v. It's a bit more difficult to swap in a 16v than it is the 8v. If you want an easy swap, just get yourself a late silver top Ph3 1.6 8v silver top, which is 100hp from the factory.

The >1.6 litre engines are a totally different engine family. <= 1.6 litre is a TU, >1.6 litre is an XU/EW. All XU engines will fit in with very little work, EWs (206 engines...) do not fit easily

Cheers for that mate. Not looking for top end gains I travel back roads to work so don't need silly speed would like To pull away quicker to 80. I no it's nothing special but car has done me well

Yeah I was sorry, I see what you mean now cheers

Has anyone actually completed a engine conversion starting as a 1.4 on here ?
