Those DSLA143P970 are from an Iveco Eurocargo - they're not correct for the 8v engines. Will always smoke and never run correctly as at certain SOI angles with any amount of fuel being injected, half the cone doesn't actually hit the combustion bowl, they will fit the 16v engines however.
If you start injecting really large amounts of fuel and temps are high, I'd expect to see burnt pistons after a while.
As others have found many years ago, simply increasing the needle lift of the stock injectors will net a good gain in fuel flow alone.
