To be honest ive driven a few cars now with GTI6 brakes, and there wasnt much noticeable difference between those and my 266s however my whole brake system is pretty much like new and has been replaced, youd notice the difference after repeated heavy stops but 90% of the time id doubt youd feel much difference, and I thrash my car around and the 266s have been easily good enough, all personal preference though I suppose, and whether or not you track your car. 

But yeah use the 307 setup as much cheaper and does bolt straight on as a whole kit.

i'm not saying the 266's aren't fine with decent pads and discs matey, just the 283's are better, it's not rocket science
