and yes drive/prod is an issue these days

One of the advantages of using a dash top satnav is that you do not have to take your eyes off the road and 'look down',I use a 'bean bag' mounting on one car and a 'sucker' mounting on the other as it has a little pad already fitted on top of the dash  for it.
Also I do use it sometimes as a 'moving map' in aviation parlance - you can see the route ahead with a quick glance and it shows all the road names approaching  if you are navigating to an 'area' or approximate postcode.
