Hi,
From recollection (been a number of years since I bothered with upgraded ice) but the 45W on your head unit is a peak power figure. You can use these speakers with your head unit and they'll sound better than OE, but to get anywhere near their maximum potential you'll need an amp.
Head units never produce anywhere near the maximum power capability of a decent pair of speakers, it's neither your HU nor these speakers it's just a fact of life.
