The pinto's an old school boat anchor. Dum Dum's right saying they are built on Cosworth blocks, so you could NA it with a Cosworth head if you want more valves.
To go over 160/170bhp on a Pinto you'll start to talk pretty serious money and need a set of 45's on it so you'll be looking at less than 10mpg with your foot into it. There's a good book by David Vizard available for Pinto tuning, very old now but the basics don't change.
There's one in my kit car with big valve head, high comp, one off grind high torque cam etc etc. It's ok but there are definitely lighter, better options out there.
