the MSA blue book isnt half a hefty read, i remember trying to make sense of it about ten years ago.
This is where i get kinda torn, i am a sucker for detail, i like everything to be right, when recreating a rally car it puts you in a difficult situation. Do i build a faithful recreation of the Maxi when they were used as rally cars (at least as far as possible when it comes to parts that are either silly expensive, or near impossble to find) but that puts a stop on alot of current competition...although not all, or do i build a modern version of the maxi with current technology and abide by current MSA regs? I guess i will make my mind up as i go, i have to find a car first before i make decisions like that.
But that puts me in another dilemma......ideally i would want to start with the best shell possible, thats a bit of a shame though, i dont really agree with making a good example of a road car into a rally car, especially as they arnt so comon anymore, it seems like a bit of a waste, almost sacrilege but if i start with one thats a bit battered and not so desireable it gives me alot more work to do, i dont mind doing bodywork or structural repairs, but i would rather not. My current project, i rescued a shell that had been stripped and was just about to be scrapped so i didnt mind so much, after all i wont be needing much of it.
