HDi TPS repair guide (Throttle Position Sensor)
#33
I may have asked this before, but are the 2 offset semi discs magnetic??

Also the wires going to the connection, red being power ( 12v ) green being earth, and the other 2 wires, white and a yellow one,  to the ecu???

How does this unit work and what sort of outputs go to the ecu??

A rising value on one wire and falling value on the other??

Square waves changing in frequency or a 4 to 20 milli amp ( 1 to 5 volt ) signal?

Does the tps unit have to be calibrated to the ecu?

In the picture, the 2 offset disc, seem to sit  above a circular metal bit, do they sit inside the metal ring bit ?

Have tried to zoom in for a better look.....but no joy.

Can the plastic "circuit board cover" be removed with out buggering the unit up, by defeating the plastic tangs?

Has anyone a picture of the circuit board and is it cover in that dangerous jelly?

I am wondering if the occasional lack of power ( for about 3 to 4 seconds, just like a long turbo lag, loss of power then the car takes off as if the turbo has just cut in ) is due to the tps, as the revs, when the engine is revved very slowly from idle, seems to hit a dead spot about 1400 rpm then takes off, as if the revs don't follow the tps position......revs don't seem to follow the throttle position proportionally very slightly.

Will be taking the tank pump out today and looking for crap/water in the tank, and checking tank pump delivery and filter.

The small metal  "diaphragm looking unit" under the bonnet, the one with a valve core, is this a test point for tank pump fuel pressure?

All help greatly appreciated.
As ever brilliant forum.
