Rear lights

It could be a blown fuse. Do your sidelights on the front work? They are on the same fuse as the O/S rear light on a Ph.1.

I have had the exact same problem and it was the fuse for the sidelights that had blown. Check that plus any other fuses you can find.

Here's a list of fuses, look at F4:
