Single yellow lines...
#1
Born out of necessity I have received a parking ticket. I was parked in a designated loading bay, and loading (from a local shop)

The local high street is pedestrianised between 11 and 3 on weekdays, and 24hours over weekends.

During the day however there is a necessitation for deliveries between 8 and 11am, and 3 and 5pm.

There is some signage along the route (which is often obstructed by shop banners etc) and absolutely no yellow lines on the road what so ever.

I am appealing it based upon the fact that i was loading a new fridge into the car from the local shop where i had just purchased it (and had moved the car from the 7th floor of the multistorey carpark to do just this). Was observed for one minute, and then ticketed (As it happens i had been parked for 2 minutes at this point only and was in the shop waiting for them to get the appliance) - we shall see how this goes,

my question:

Does the signage have to be in addition to a single yellow, double yellow, or red lines, with the customary loading "blips" on kerbs (often single for restricted times, double for no loading etc), or can the signage be mutually exclusive and carry no requirement for any road markings on the road (painted lines) itself.

more simply put, do you have to have road markings as well as signs for the parking restrictions to be legally enforced or can there just be signs.
Given the choice between Niall and the sheep. I would choose the sheep!
